Schools Fishing Competition

Six teams of children from special schools across the West Midlands competed in a fishing competition sponsored by a group of local business people. The schools represented were Westcroft in Wolverhampton, Calthorpe and Wilson Stuart from Birmingham, Pens Meadow in Dudley and Severndale from Shrewsbury. Each team had created their own team names and logo’s and proudly wore T-shirts showing their artistic creations.

The Wolves midfielder Jamie O’Hara (a keen angler himself) took time out from pre-season training to present the teams with certificates and the winners with their medals and cups. The Winning team from Westcroft caught an amazing 45 fish between them and the prize from the biggest fish went to Chennai from Wilson Stuart School who caught a 3lb common carp.

Jamie said “at a place like this children can feel like they’ve achieved something and I’m delighted to be part of this amazing day".
