The Four Seasons Education

Our training workshops are for groups and tailor-made to meet your organisation's needs,
the courses are aimed at those with none or limited knowledge of the environment with fully experienced horticulturists under the guidance of our head gardener. The sessions offer a variety of opportunities tailored in a series of days to encompass individual learning requirements

Impact of the courses on students include:

  • Students build relationships with others
  • Provide participants with a broad based introduction to the four seasons
  • A better understanding of ecological issues
  • Recognise nature and the life cycle
  • Enable students to identify trees, plants and shrubs
  • Planting & principles of plant health
  • Interpret the guidelines for a carbon free environment for each individual’s activities
  • Plan and manage the production of fruit and vegetables from sowing seeds to completion – propagation, composting, germinating
  • Identifying suitable areas in the garden for each plant/tree etc, with regard to Sun, shade, damp & dry
  • Tasks can be presented as group activities or on a one-on-one basis.

We encourage people to become involved in any form of horticultural, environmental or conservation activity to help enhance, improve and increase their sense of personal awareness, health and well being.

Gardening is a wonderful flexible medium through which groups and individuals can accomplish many things, some are not immediately apparent such as rebuilding strength after an accident or illness or providing a purposeful activity to cope through a difficult period in their lives.  Some may be less obvious such as helping to improve literacy through a simple task as labelling a plant or reading a seed packet.

There are people with disabilities who simply want to enjoy gardening but need practical advice and skills to get started or to progress. Within our groups we encourage them to become involved in any form of horticultural, conservation or environmental activities.

We are continually developing our gardens and facilities.  The installation of our greenhouse has enabled us to expand our horticultural activities; however as no Government or Local Authority funding is available to us we are reliant on sponsorship, donations and fund-raising events to enable us to continue with our work.

The education programmes are sponsored by various Trusts and Foundations, Local and National Businesses
