The Albrighton Trust will provide structured sessions on conserving and promoting local wildlife habitats, and will include workshops, practical indoor and outdoor exercises, observation sessions and one-to-one advice to take home to implement.
Project Objectives
To encourage curiosity
To encourage exploration and use of all the senses
To empower people in the natural environment
To increase cooperation with peers
Reviewing and recognition of own achievements
It was expected that through a regular chance to experience the natural environment and explore with their peer group, children would develop a keener sense of their own physical and problem solving abilities.
Participants would gain knowledge in identification skills and understanding of animal lifestyles.
Appreciation of both common and rare species and gain a real grounding in how to to observe and what to look for.
Recognise the impact of human activities on bird and other animal populations and consider conservation issues.
Participants of the programme can possibily achieve a John Muir Award on one or up to three levels, Discovery, Explorer and Conserver.
If you would like to participate in the programme, either as an individual, or as part of a group, please contact The Albrighton Trust.
As part of this programme camera nestboxes and feeding stations have been installed and are linked to ICT equipment in The Trust's training room.

The nesting boxes were installed in February 2011, and we are pleased to say within two months 2 of the nesting boxes being in place they were inhabited by blue and great tits.

It has been fasinating for children and young people to observe the daily activites of the bird life without distrubing them.

There is lots of excitment while everyone waits for the eggs to hatch.
